St Dominic’s Priory College

Project: New Middle School Precinct and St Mary’s Building Upgrade
Architect: Swanbury Penglase
Project Value: $11.00 Mill

The St Dominic’s Priory College redevelopment delivered a transformative new Middle School precinct within the heart of the College’s Senior Campus in North Adelaide. The project comprised the construction of a new two and three storey educational facility on the western side of the campus, designed to support contemporary teaching and learning practices.

In addition to the new build, extensive refurbishment and upgrade works were undertaken to the adjoining three-storey St Mary’s Building, as well as a portion of the existing single-storey Administration Building.  These works were carefully integrated with the new development to ensure architectural cohesion and functional connectivity across the precinct.

A key component of the project involved the sensitive demolition of the existing Mayo Building, located between the Administration and St Mary’s Buildings, which made way for the new Middle School facilities. The works also included significant services upgrades, including the coordination and installation of a new transformer to support the electrical load of the expanded precinct.

All works were undertaken within the operational school environment, requiring detailed planning, stakeholder coordination to minimise disruption to college life.
